Naomi McCavitt
Painter & muralist, Naomi McCavitt and I recently got together in her Richmond, Museum District living and studio space. The living area which leads to her workspace is decorated with much of her work and directly reflects it in many ways. Naomi’s art is an incredible mix of very real and detailed insects, animals, and plant life set in and mixed with surreal scenes and color ways. During my visit we discussed her evolution from an educator to full time artist, tapping into creative inspiration through time spent in nature, the subconscious as an influencer, and more.
