Em White
For the last entry in my 'Space to Create' project for the year, I had the opportunity to visit with photographer, Em White at her Manchester District studio. Em is an accomplished photographer in many mediums of the art, but especially her incredible tintype work. Em captures and processes this classic photographic form using vintage equipment and developing techniques (her studio camera is from the early 20th century) mixed with modern strobe and natural lighting.
During the visit she was kind enough to shoot two tintype plates of me while walking me through the entire pre- and post-processes. We hung out and played with her three adorable dogs that double as studio bouncers and talked about photographic trends, the growing popularity of tintypes, and the art of smizing.
You can find out more about Em and her work via her website here, and on Instagram here.
