Carren Clarke
I recently had the opportunity to meet pottery artist, Carren Clarke at her home studio in the Woodland Heights area of Richmond. Carren works primarily in ceramics with a focus on the Black image and African culture and symbolism. She was kind enough to give me a tour of her home which is filled with both her works and works of artists who have inspired her over time. We talked throughout the tour about her travels to Ghana, where she is part of the leadership of a philanthropic foundation. We also talked about her creative process, what inspires her work, being unapologetic about working alone, and much more.
